GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Lead people and change management initiatives (including technology systems) across multiple manufacturing locations. Develop and implement long and short-term strategies to meet key performance indicators, continuous improvement initiatives, and Lean manufacturing practices. Ensure safety and operational excellence at all assigned locations with evidence-based manufacturing data and metrics. Regularly travel to assigned sites (currently 5 individual locations within a 5-mile radius of each other) to manage teams and processes, provide financial oversight, and execute growth initiatives in support of annual plans. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Drive a safety-first culture.
• Develop processes, strategies, and budgets to meet company goals, especially those related to safety, productivity, product specification, quality standards, on time delivery, lead time, and scrap reduction.
• Lead, direct, and oversee all aspects of people leadership, manufacturing operations and infrastructure for assigned facilities.
• Take prompt corrective action when necessary to bring manufacturing performance in line with plans and governing standards.
• Plan, direct, control, implement, evaluate, monitor, and forecast budgets and cost of sales at each facility to achieve financial objectives. Ensures continued financial viability through sound fiscal management, preventative service maintenance and capital expenditure planning.
• Collaborate with senior leadership, operational leaders/peers, and management teams to refine and implement the lean transformation strategic plan.
• Drive operational growth through current and future products with an emphasis on streamlining operations and driving productivity throughout assigned plants.
• Operate collaboratively and cross-functionally to establish and drive working capital improvement programs, optimize planning and scheduling, reduce work-in-process levels, and improve overall inventory turns.
• Continuously address and resolve manufacturing constraints to achieve 100% on-time delivery.
• Ensure the execution of Lean concepts including but not limited to Kaizen, 5S, value stream mapping, GEMBA walks, KPIs, business statistics etc.
• Approve and direct the implementation and maintenance of safety and operating policies.
• Establish quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company's efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identify opportunities for improvement.
• Provide leadership and coaching to ensure a well-trained, motivated, and goal-oriented workforce driven to attain objectives and satisfactory performance in accordance with established policies and programs.
• Coach and develop team members in personal accountability, root cause corrective action, interpersonal communications, and company procedures and policies.
• Provide effective leadership by being actively involved and developing a broad and deep knowledge of strengths, opportunities, customers, products, geographic challenges, workforce, etc.
• Build bench to ensure growth and succession. Assesses capacity and resources to forecast current and future needs.
• Clearly define and communicate goals, key objectives, and metrics as well as new directives, policies, or procedures.
• Project a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community; lead by example.
• Provide regular performance updates to senior leadership. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in engineering, operations, business, or closely related discipline.
• Master’s degree in business administration, manufacturing or engineering preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
• Minimum of 10+ years of manufacturing experience; 7 years’ operations management experience; 3 years’ multiple facilities experience required. • Experience in cost reduction, Lean manufacturing principles or other continuous improvement methodologies, design for manufacturability, project management and team building. • Experience in budgeting, fiscal management, and strategic planning/execution. • Extensive and diversified background in fabrication and/or chemical manufacturing preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification and/or Lean Manufacturing Certification preferred.
OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Proficiency in work-flow processes, value stream efficiency, and systems-thinking.
• Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of Lean principles and continuous improvement tools with a thorough understanding of the DMAIC methodology.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to form opinions based on data aggregation. Ability to analyze complex requirements, identify key phases and workstreams, evaluate improvements and drive them to closure.
• Well organized, clear, rational, and analytical approach to problem solving and planning using tools like Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication, listening and interpersonal skills to work with different management levels.
• Goal-oriented with proven record of self-motivation, achievement, and continuous improvement.
• Strong people management, development and team building skills. Ability to hold staff accountable and set appropriate targets.
• Superior diplomacy skill with the ability to build consensus/agreement and work across departmental boundaries to solve problems and accomplish organizational goals.
• Remains calm under pressure and develops creative and pragmatic solutions; willing to look for/explore new solutions or methods.
• Applies a variety of field related concepts, best practices, and procedures in leading state-of-the-art, LEAN operational initiatives and strategies.
• Leverages extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Extensive experience with ERP systems and Microsoft productivity tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Track record of effectively leading an organization with a complex array of operations and leveraging strengths across areas.
• Excellent project management skills.
TRAVEL REQUIRED: Flexibility to travel to multiple Tremco locations throughout North America occasionally. Will travel to assigned facilities within a 5 mile radius daily. WORK LOCATION: Onsite at our manufacturing facility. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Incumbent must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, kneel, talk, hear, and lift up to 50 lbs. BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION: The base salary for this role starts at $150,000 and progresses based on potential employee qualifications, operations, needs, and other considerations permitted by law.
