Enhanced Nurse Practitioner Women's Health (ARRS)
Meir Primary Care Network is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Enhanced Nurse Practitioner with a special interest in Women's Health to join our multidisciplinary ARRS team.
Working across six GP practices, you will provide high-quality, patient-centred clinical care, undertaking autonomous assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, and management of patients presenting with a wide range of acute and long-term conditions. You will work as an integral member of the practice teams, supporting timely access to care and improving patient outcomes.
Alongside your general Enhanced Nurse Practitioner responsibilities, you will lead and deliver dedicated Women's Health clinics at the PCN Hub. These clinics will include the assessment and management of common gynaecological conditions, menopause care, contraception, cervical screening, HRT management, and other women's health services appropriate to your competency.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, pharmacists and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, evidence-based care while supporting service development across the PCN. You will demonstrate excellent clinical decision-making, strong communication skills, and a commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of our local population.
Main duties of the job
Deliver safe, autonomous, evidence-based clinical care within your scope of practice.Assess, diagnose, treat and manage patients presenting with acute, minor illness and long-term conditions.Independently prescribe medicationsRequest, interpret and act upon appropriate investigations.Deliver specialist Women's Health services, including menopause management, contraception, cervical screening, and the assessment and management of common gynaecological conditions.Undertake clinical procedures relevant to the role and maintain competency through continuing professional development.Work collaboratively with GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, patient-centred care.Contribute to improving access to primary care services across the PCN through flexible working across six member practices and the PCN Hub.Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records using EMIS Web and ensure compliance with professional, clinical governance and information governance standards.Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement, service development and the implementation of national and local guidance.Support health promotion, prevention, patient education and self-management to improve long-term health outcomes.Contribute to teaching, supervision and the development of colleagues and learners where appropriate.

Meir PCN is a membership comprising of six practices - Dr Raju & Partners, Adderley Green Surgery, Meir Medical Practice, Meir Park & Weston Coyney Medical Practice, Trinity Medical Practice and Willow Bank Surgery - covering the Meir, Longton & Blythe Bridge areas of Stoke on Trent.
We currently have a PCN population of approximately 37,500 patients and the PCN staff work in conjunction with the local general practices, local services and other organisations to support both local and national priorities.

The Enhanced Nurse Practitioner (Women's Health) will provide high-quality, evidence-based clinical care across Meir Primary Care Network, supporting improved patient access and delivering specialist Women's Health services. Working autonomously within professional competence, the post holder will assess, diagnose, treat and manage patients with a wide range of acute, minor illness and long-term conditions whilst leading dedicated Women's Health clinics.
The role will contribute to improving health outcomes, reducing health inequalities and supporting the delivery of Primary Care Network objectives through collaborative multidisciplinary working.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical PracticeUndertake autonomous assessment, examination, diagnosis and management of patients presenting with acute illness, minor injury and long-term conditions.Develop and implement appropriate treatment plans.Independently prescribe medications (where qualified) in accordance with national guidance and local policies.Request, interpret and act upon investigations including pathology and diagnostic tests.Refer patients appropriately using local referral pathways.Recognise and respond appropriately to deteriorating patients and medical emergencies.Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical records using EMIS Web.Women's HealthDeliver specialist Women's Health clinics across the PCN.Assess and manage menopause and perimenopause symptoms, providing evidence-based advice and treatment.Provide contraceptive advice and management within competence.Undertake cervical screening where appropriately trained.Assess and manage common gynaecological conditions presenting in primary care.Provide HRT initiation, monitoring and review in line with national guidance.Promote women's health screening programmes and preventative healthcare.Deliver patient education to support informed decision-making and self-management.Service DeliveryWork flexibly across six GP practices and the PCN Hub according to service need.Support same-day access and routine clinical services.Contribute to reducing GP workload by managing appropriate patient presentations independently.Work collaboratively with GPs, practice nurses, pharmacists, care coordinators, social prescribers and the wider multidisciplinary team.Participate in MDT discussions where appropriate.Quality, Governance and ImprovementWork within the NMC Code, ARRS requirements and PCN policies.Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement and service evaluation.Support implementation of national and local clinical guidance.Maintain professional registration, mandatory training and continuing professional development.Participate in clinical supervision, appraisal and revalidation.Report incidents, significant events and safeguarding concerns in accordance with policy.CommunicationBuild effective working relationships across practices and partner organisations.Communicate sensitively and effectively with patients, carers and colleagues.Contribute to practice and PCN meetings as required.Support health promotion and patient engagement initiatives.Information GovernanceEnsure confidentiality is maintained at all times.Comply with Data Protection legislation, Information Governance requirements and PCN policies.Maintain accurate electronic patient records and documentation.Professional ResponsibilitiesPractice within own scope of competence.Maintain registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).Maintain an Independent Prescribing qualification (if applicable).Keep clinical knowledge and skills up to date through continuing professional development.Act as a role model for evidence-based practice and patient-centred care.General ResponsibilitiesWork flexibly to meet the operational needs of the PCN.Promote equality, diversity and inclusion.Maintain health and safety standards.Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade and nature of the post as reasonably requested.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Significant experience in Primary Care. Experience managing acute presentations and long-term conditions. Demonstrable experience in Women's Health, including menopause management. Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills. Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team. Full UK driving licence and access to transport.
Desirable
Experience of HRT initiation and ongoing management. Experience using EMIS Web and Ardens templates. Experience supporting service development and quality improvement initiatives. Experience supervising and supporting the wider nursing team
Qualifications Essential
Registered Nurse (NMC). Master's level qualification in Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent experience. Level 7 Post Graduate qualification in Women's Health Independent Prescriber
Desirable
Qualification in Cervical Screening Qualification in Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC)
