About this role

Job summary

This entry level role supports the delivery of the organisations Communications Strategy, ensuring that all communications, both internal and external, are presented to maximise engagement. The post-holder has responsibility for delivering key aspects of the regular communications including: weekly newsletters, updating and developing the intranet, supporting internal communication campaigns and managing the Social Media output.

This is a practical hands-on role, suitable for a recent graduate or someone seeking to develop their skills following entry level experience in a related role. The post reports to the Head of Communications.

Main duties of the job

Primarily internal communications delivery of newsletters, intranet, screensavers, posters etc and supporting projects eg Adastra, ED&I - and Social Media.

NEMS currently operates 3 main services: (1) Integrated Urgent Care across Nottinghamshire serving a patient population of over 1 million, including home visiting, remote consultation and clinical assessment services; (2) Urgent Primary care provision located within the A&E Department at QMC, (3) A 24-hour walk-in urgent primary care service adjacent to Kings Mill Hospital A&E, Mansfield.

Job description Job responsibilities

Communication & relationship skills

Create content (research, write, edit and proof content) for weekly newsletters, intranet, social media, ad hoc announcements, WhatsApp, bulk SMS or emails and videos. Support the development and introduction of new channels eg Podcasting. Manage and maintain existing communication channels and user lists to ensure all content is directed to appropriate audiences. Work with design tools to create communications that support brand identity, vision and values of the organisation. Provide advice and guidance on the approach and recommended content of internal communications, including use of channels, working with key managers to support awareness raising and promotion of projects (e.g. transformation initiatives, ED&I). Create and deliver communications to support internal communications campaigns for key projects. Work with designers/design tools to create communications that support brand identity, vision and values of the organisation. Deputise for the Head of Communications as required. Act as brand champion and ensure appropriate use of brand assets in all internal and external communications, including creating bespoke templates for MS Teams, email signatures for campaigns.

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Proven ability to form and develop effective relationships with internal staff and external parties. Personal values aligned to NEMS core values. Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills. Flexible and proactive approach. Ability to work under pressure with a calm and measured approach. Proven proficiency designing and writing communications, proof reading and content creation for a variety of channels. Experience of producing visual communications tailored to specific audiences eg posters/screensavers. Experience producing social media content and managing channels. Experience of web design and content management. Microsoft Office proficiency and knowledge of other IT systems relevant to the role. Excellent oral & written communication. Organise self and use own initiative. Excellent time management skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and empathetic.

Desirable

Ability to work flexibly across home-based and sites. Experience of producing video or podcast content. Experience of working with other partners to deliver high quality products. Experience of delivering proactive support and guidance on internal/corporate communications. Understanding of brand management.

Qualifications Essential

Educated to degree level or equivalent gained through at least 5 years work experience in a relevant role.

Desirable

Experience working in communications, PR or media environment.
