About this role

Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamicscrubpractitioner with theappropriate clinicalexperience to work as Deputy Team Leader fortheAcutetheatre team.The role will involve leading the theatre scrub team, deliveringpatientcare, and contributing as a scrub practitioner.

Our acute theatre team delivers a 24/7 service that covers multiple surgicalspecialities.You will work alongside your Band 7theatre team leaderto support our dedicated team and continuously develop our service to provide excellent care for our patients. The successful applicant will need todemonstratea keen interest in improving and developing their leadership skills to enable management of staff, be an effective role modeldemonstratinghigh levelsof clinical competence &expertise.

You will have a minimum of 3 years' Band 5 theatrescrub. You should be able todemonstrateinvolvement in service improvement with some evidence of change management. You will have engaged in personal leadership development and be able todemonstrateskills in time management,prioritisationand organisational skills.

Main duties of the job

Our Trust is committed toprovidingdevelopment opportunities to all grades of staff and as a Deputy Team Leader you will be supported to developappropriate leadershipskills. Training will be provided by ourin houseclinical educators and supernumerary time will be offered to allow dedicated training and support. You will be supported in this role by our band 6 development programme, with a skills portfolio to develop your leadership skills.

TheatreScrub experience.

Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance withYork and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust policies and procedures

Maintain a safe and clean working environment

Provide assessment, planning,implementationand evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuringaccuratewritten records are kept.

Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access toappropriate information.

Promote andmaintainpositive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient

Actin accordance withthe Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct

Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands

Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures

Job description Job responsibilities

This is a demanding role where you will be expected toexhibitknowledge of how we work towards our Trust's vision and be a real team player.High levelsof communication will berequiredand there is an expectation that deputy team leaders will coordinate the workload in conjunction with other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Our service is expanding rapidly- you will need to be adaptive and willing to cover the shift patternrequiredto run the service and have the capacity to go the extra mile. We currently covera 24/7 surgical servicewith various shift patternsencompassingboth in and out of hoursworking.

Interviews for this position will be held in person ONLY at the hospital site. Remote interviews will not be available.

Qualifications Essential

Registered Nurse with current NMC registration or ODP with current HCP registration.

Minimum 3 years Theatre experience Evidence of continued educational and professional development.
