Job summary
This role comprises a 40:60 split between Cardiac, Respiratory and Intensive Care (CRIC) directorate lead role and clinical respiratory medicines management services.
60% Lead Clinical Pharmacist for Respiratory to provide a comprehensive Respiratory medicines management service to Evelina and liaison with primary and community care colleagues.
40% to develop, deliver and evaluate clinical pharmacy services to the Cardiac, Respiratory and Intensive Care (CRIC) Directorate in accordance with the objectives set by the Clinical Services Lead Pharmacist in close liaison with the Consultants pharmacists. To train, develop and assess competence of pharmacists working within paediatrics. To act as a role model in the Paediatric pharmacy field and provide a consistently high level of pharmaceutical service for Paediatrics in line with corporate objectives and NHS Plan

Clinical Practice
To act as a clinical role model for Paediatric pharmacists and demonstrate the ability to provide safe, clinically effective and cost-efficient use of drugs in these patients

Research and Development
To develop and deliver on the Research & Development Agenda surrounding Paediatric Medicines Management within Cardiac, Respiratory and Intensive Care (CRIC) directorate and the Paediatric Respiratory service in liaison with the Consultant pharmacists

Leadership

To provide strategic leadership for medicines optimisation across the Cardiac, Respiratory and Intensive Care Directorate, ensuring pharmacy services support the Directorate, Evelina London and Trust strategic objectives.
To identify and promote best practice
To provide delivery of the clinical governance agenda in relation to drug use in in the CRIC directorate in liaison with the Consultant Pharmacists
To motivate and inspire others (both within pharmacy and the wider paediatric community)
To proactively develop clinical pharmacy services in line with local and national objectives
To lead the development, implementation and evaluation of long-term pharmacy service strategies in response to changing patient populations, clinical advances and organisational priorities.
To demonstrate innovation and extend the boundaries of the profession
To act as the senior pharmacy representative within Directorate governance structures and contribute to Directorate decision-making processes.
To influence clinical and operational practice through participation in Directorate, Clinical Group and Trust-wide committees and working groups.
To demonstrate expert practice in aspects of medicines management in CRIC Services.
To provide medicines management advice on complex clinical cases
To provide professional and clinical leadership across Southeast London and national paediatric pharmacy networks with a particular focus on paediatric respiratory medicine.
To represent Evelina London Pharmacy on regional and national specialist groups, medicines optimisation forums and professional networks.
To contribute to the development of regional and national guidance, standards and policy relating to paediatric pharmacy practice.
Management of service

To manage the operational delivery of pharmaceutical services to the Cardiac, Respiratory and Intensive Care (CRIC) directorate and the Respiratory service
Provide effective line management for pharmacy staff, including recruitment, retention, performance management, appraisal, training, mentorship and succession planning, ensuring compliance with Trust policies and the development of a skilled, engaged and high-performing workforce. To identify and prioritise clinical pharmacy services to the directorate
To reconcile national priorities with local realities
To help ensure national and local agendas are delivered
To establish processes for the setting of standards of care
To identify and manage changes that need to occur to achieve these in liaison with the Consultant Pharmacists, to lead service transformation, skill mix review redesign and quality improvement programmes that enhance patient outcomes, improve efficiency and support delivery of Trust objectives.

To provide expert financial stewardship for medicines expenditure within the Directorate, supporting delivery of efficiency programmes whilst maintaining high standards of patient care
To lead the evaluation and implementation of high-cost medicines, biosimilars and cost-improvement initiatives through collaboration with clinical and operational teams.

Help produce and implement business plans for all advancements of pharmacy services

Evaluation of Service
To monitor clinical pharmacy services for patients admitted to the Cardiac, Respiratory and Intensive Care (CRIC) directorate and the Respiratory service in accordance with the objectives set by the post holder and Clinical Services Lead Pharmacist in close liaison with the Consultants pharmacists in order to ensure safe, clinically effective and cost efficient use of drugs in these patients.
Help ensure that the quality of the Paediatric pharmacy services is recognised as a leader in the national field in line with the corporate objectives
