The Faculty of Health Sciences at University of Hull is seeking an exceptional Senior Lecturer to join our thriving School of Health Care and play a leading role in shaping the future of healthcare education. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced healthcare academic or educational leader with expertise in clinical skills, simulation-enhanced learning and practice-based education.

As a senior member of the academic team, you will provide strategic leadership to support the school’s ambition to establish clinical skills and simulation-based education as a distinctive strength within its educational offer. Working closely with colleagues, students and healthcare partners, you will lead innovation in teaching and learning, enhance practice-based education, and contribute to the development of interprofessional learning opportunities across a wide range of healthcare programmes.

You will contribute to the design, delivery and continuous enhancement of undergraduate, postgraduate and apprenticeship programmes, while supporting strategic projects aligned with School and Faculty priorities. The role also offers opportunities to influence curriculum development, build strong partnerships with NHS and other healthcare providers, mentor colleagues, and promote educational scholarship and innovation.

About you

You will be a registered healthcare professional (NMC, HCPC or equivalent) with a relevant Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience. You will have a strong track record of excellence in healthcare education, alongside significant experience of leading practice-based education and the use of clinical skills and simulation-enhanced learning to support curriculum development and educational quality.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

Strong academic and educational leadership. Experience of leading educational innovation and curriculum enhancement. Expertise in clinical skills and/or simulation-based education. Effective partnership working with healthcare organisations and external stakeholders. A commitment to inclusive, interprofessional and student-centred learning. Engagement in scholarship, pedagogic development and the dissemination of good practice.

A PhD, Senior Fellowship recognition and experience of leading simulation or interprofessional education initiatives would be advantageous.

Why join us?

The School of Health Care is part of a vibrant Faculty of Health Sciences with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality healthcare education and working closely with practice partners to improve outcomes for patients, families and communities. We are committed to social justice, widening participation and developing confident healthcare professionals equipped to meet the needs of diverse populations.

If you are passionate about educational leadership, healthcare innovation and shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals, we would love to hear from you.
