Located on the Wuhan University campus, the Institute delivers undergraduate programs in Engineering and Earth Sciences combining the strengths of both institutions, preparing students for global academic and professional pathways.

Job description

Role Overview:

Deliver credit-bearing EAP modules to undergraduate students, supporting their academic English development within a trannational education context. Contract Terms: 3 years

Key responsibilities:

Teaching Delivery Deliver credit-bearing and in-sessional EAP modules using established materials Support students in developing academic English and independent learning skills

Assessment & quality

Provide feedback on student work and contribute to assessment processes Participate in moderation and quality assurance activities

Collaboration & development

Contribute to curriculum enhancement and materials review Participate in meetings and professional development activities Workload 20 teaching contact hours per week, plus preparation, marking and related duties

Job requirements

Education (Mandatory)

A good undergraduate degree (UK 2:1 or international equivalent), AND RSA CELTA (or equivalent), AND MA in Applied Linguistics (or equivalent), or RSA Delta (or equivalent), or significant EAP teaching experience with MA/DELTA study in progress

Experience

Ideally a minimum 3 years’ EAP teaching experience Experience in assessment and/or curriculum development

Skills & Competencies

Understanding of academic conventions and expectations in higher education Proficiency in EAP teaching methodologies, digital pedagogies, generative AI tools, and virtual learning environments. Commitment to professional development, peer observation, and collaborative work in an international team Valid right to work in China and willingness to be based in Wuhan for the contract term

Desirable

Experience in UK HE or JEI or other transnational education environments Experience teaching Chinese learners Familiarity with BALEAP CFTEAP and engagement in EAP scholarship FHEA qualification or ability to obtain FHEA
