The Post
Stirling Law School wishes to appoint a suitably qualified Teaching and Research (T&R) Lecturer in Law. The School is keen to ensure that we continue to offer all the LLB subjects required by the Faculty of Advocates and the Law Society of Scotland to a high standard. Therefore, teaching experience across Scots law LLB subjects would be advantageous. The current teaching needs are predominantly in Scots commercial law and European law.
Expertise in some or all of the following subjects is desirable:
Scots Commercial Law European Law Information Technology Law Intellectual Property Law
The main responsibilities are to teach and supervise undergraduate students and to undertake administrative duties as appropriate to the grade of appointment.
Initially, the successful applicants will be responsible for:
(a) Coordinating and delivering core and specialist modules in the LLB/BA (Hons) programmes (b) Contributing to dissertation supervision and assessment in the LLB/BA (Hons) Law programmes
Description of Duties
Grade 7
Engage in individual and collaborative research which aligns to the strategic direction of the University, develop a programme of high-quality research and disseminate results through regular publication Identify appropriate sources of funding, prepare research proposals for funding bodies and manage grants awarded Supervise research students as required, providing direction, support and guidance
Grade 8
Engage in individual and collaborative research, which aligns to the strategic direction of the University, establish a distinctive programme of high-quality research and disseminate results Identify appropriate sources of funding, prepare research proposals for funding bodies and manage grants awarded Supervise research students and staff as required, providing direction, support and guidance
Essential Criteria
Grade 7
Qualifications
LLB PhD in relevant discipline or close to successful completion
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Evidence of a developing publication record Credible plans for the active pursuit of external research funding
