Salary: Full time starting salary is normally in the range £109,725 to £145,478
Hours: Part Time (8 hours per week)
Role Summary
In their role as Associate Clinical Professor, the candidate will contribute to and lead teaching, educational leadership and administration. Applicants with limited academic experience are encouraged to apply, and we welcome informal enquiries by contacting the Head of Dentistry and/or the Head of Orthodontics to discuss this appointment.
In addition, the candidate will be expected to contribute to academic citizenship, likely to be demonstrated through generous, mutually respectful and supportive working relationships with all staff and students. Teaching will include: (a) development and leadership and (b) enhancement of the student experience and employability.
It is expected that the candidate will provide leadership in teaching and learning that is innovative to the subject area or institution, with contribution to the debate nationally about teaching.
Clinical service as part of an honorary consultant contract with the Birmingham Community Health Care Foundation Trust.
Main Duties
Education
You will contribute across the range of teaching and learning activities:
Making a significant contribution to the pedagogical knowledge base of the subject that advances teaching through the enhancement of practice, the development of teaching resources and/or through practice-based research; Leading on the management and the development of approaches to teaching and learning, including designing innovative approaches and supporting colleagues to use them in the subject area or institution; Leading on curriculum design at module and programme level to ensure it is contemporary, inclusive, engaging and academically challenging; Actively engaging students in curriculum design;
Person Specification
This is a clinical academic post and the postholder must be a dentist who has completed specialist training, passed ISFE, is fully registered and with a licence to practise with the GDC and participating in clinical appraisal and revalidation. Demonstrated competence in Learning and Teaching, and Management and Administration.
