Do you want to help researchers at the University of Sheffield undertake exciting and collaborative international research? We have an exciting opportunity in our Research Assurance team for someone with an enquiring mind and great analytical skills, plus an assertive but diplomatic communication style, to provide pragmatic advice and administration support which enables our researchers to work with international partners while complying with relevant policies and regulations.
You will:
Be familiar with academic science and/or engineering; Be a fast learner who works to a high level of accuracy and enjoys the challenge of a varied workload; Excel at explaining complex/technical policy concepts and their consequences to a diverse audience; Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both with individuals and small groups, and experience of building strong, effective working relationships; Have the ability to work flexibly and effectively, both independently and as part of a team, knowing when to escalate queries and re-prioritise tasks; Be tenacious and find professional fulfilment in explaining complex concepts and policies to a range of audiences and offering pragmatic, professional support.
The Research Assurance team (situated within Research, Partnerships and Innovation) manages our Due Diligence and Export Control activities and provides expert professional support to ensure research partnerships comply with both internal policies and external legislation. Working closely with professional colleagues, you will be the first point of contact for researchers planning to undertake research internationally, providing appropriate advice or escalating queries internally or to external agencies as appropriate.
