About this role
Applications are invited for appointment as Professor and Head of the Department of Architecture (Ref.: 536466). Appointment as Professor will be on tenure terms; the Headship is for an initial three-year term, renewable subject to mutual agreement. Exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for appointment as Chair Professor.

The Role
The Head of Department is expected to:
Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction, ensuring alignment with University goals. Advance the Department’s global profile through international collaborations and academic networks. Enhance research activity by supporting grant applications, early-career researchers, and global partnerships. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Lead talent recruitment, retention, and professional development. Oversee student admissions and quality assurance, promoting excellence in teaching and student success. Represent the Department externally, building networks to support its growth.
Qualifications and Qualities
Internationally recognised standing in architecture. Distinguished academic record in research, scholarship, and teaching. Demonstrated innovative architectural practice. Proven leadership and university-level administrative experience. Strong international network and ability to secure research funding. Excellent communication skills and high personal integrity.

Compensation and Benefits
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary.
