About this role
Title: CES Kindergarten Jumpstart Summer Program - Social Worker/Counselor Program Goal: Students entering Centerville Elementary kindergarten will be invited to participate in a summer session to prepare these students and their families for the Kindergarten, school routines, expected behaviors, supports available, and allay fears. Qualifications:
• Master's Degree
• Massachusetts DESE license in School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor, Guidance Counselor, or Psychologist
• Experience with positive behavior supports, pro-social skills development and parent training.
• Minimum three years experience working with children.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide direct service and consultation for students.
• Use a significant portion of each day in direct contact with students for counseling, planning or decision making.
• Provide classroom and small group instruction.
• Provide crisis counseling and referral when necessary to outside agencies.
• Mediate with students and staff to resolve conflicts that interfere with the learning process.
• Provide consultation to staff regarding student difficulty in the classroom and assistance in developing positive behavior intervention and support plans.
• Serve as a resource person to staff to provide information about behavioral, social, emotional matters which may have significance for student's program.
• Collaborate with school counselors, school psychologists, teachers, administrators and parents.
• All other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Program Duration & Anticipated Schedule
• August 3, 2026 - August 13, 2026
• Monday through Thursday 8:30-12:30 (4 hrs/day)
• 4 Hour of Program Preparation/Orientation
• 1 Hours of End of Program Clean Up Time
• (37 Hours Total)
