Location Number of Vacancies Field ES 1 Cathey MS 1 PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assist the physical education teacher in the preparation, instruction and management of student physical activities. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent, required Associate degree or a minimum of 48 college hours, required Paraprofessional Certification, preferred (required upon employment) Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to work cooperatively with students and adults: strong interpersonal skills; First Aid and CPR Training; knowledge of fitness and sports activities; ability to speak, read, write and follow written and oral instructions Experience: Experience working with children in sports/recreational activities, preferred Days: 187 Hourly Pay Range: Minimum: $13.75 Maximum: $19.25 Note: Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assist teacher in preparing for physical education activities and delivering instruction.
• Assist in supervising students throughout the workday.
• Assist the teacher in record keeping.
• Assist in maintaining equipment, supplies and storage facility.
• Participate in staff development.
• Assist the teachers with students that have special needs.
• Follow McAllen ID customer service standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None EQUIPMENT USED: PE Equipment, multimedia equipment and office machines WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: An appropriate level of physical fitness; occasional lifting and/or moving up to 45 pounds and over; with standing all outdoor weather and environmental conditions as specified in district guidelines; assist in physical retraining of students in crisis situations
