GENERAL INFORMATION

Title: Instructional Assistant - Pre-Kindergarten Department: Hutcherson Early Learning Center Salary Grade: Classified Grade C+, E+ FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Site/Location: Hutcherson Early Learning Center Reports to: Building Administrator Date: 05/15/2026

POSITION SUMMARY

• Assists Pre-K teachers in working with students to develop state mandated (Virginia Foundation Blocks) learning and established educational goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Implements teacher created lessons and activities during one-on-one, small group and whole class instruction.

• Assists with preparing and organizing classroom materials

• Maintains and assists with routines and student discipline procedures

• Collaborates and works cooperatively with teacher and staff

• Maintains confidentiality and professionalism at all times

• Performs related duties as necessary and as assigned by the site administration. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.

• Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.

• Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.

• Attend and participate In faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

• Maintains confidentiality.

• Completes other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Must possess a High School Diploma or GED  

• Minimum of sixty (60) college credit hours, or Associate's Degree

• Successfully completed the ParaPro Assessment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Experience working with children.     

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

• Assists and supervises students during unstructured times including lunch and recess
