Job Title: Missouri Options/Alternative Education Teacher Responsible to: Building Administrator, High School Principal Qualifications:
• Degree – minimum of bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Certificate – Missouri teaching certificate in any secondary-level area or in Adult Education and Literacy (AEL). AEL certification is not required if the educator already has a valid teaching certificate.
• Experience – prefer experience in classroom teaching as well as adult education experience.
Primary Functions: To provide a quality instructional program for Missouri Options students; to complete teaching duties necessary to the district's educational program. Specific Duties: Program Operation
• Prepares for classroom instruction.
• Implements a variety of effective teaching techniques.
• Participates in the development of education plans which are appropriate to the students' abilities and needs.
• Provides for individual differences.
• Tailors instruction to fit the learning objectives identified for Missouri Options students.
• Implements instructional objectives effectively.
• Demonstrates competent knowledge of subject matter.
• Uses a variety of materials.
• Uses instructional time effectively.
• Expects to motivate students.
• Communicates effectively with students.
• Provides evaluative feedback to students.
Classroom Management
• Organizes classroom to promote learning.
• Manages student behavior constructively.
Monitoring and Managing Student Learning
• Align assessments with the goal, objectives and instructional strategies required to achieve a passing score on the General Educational Development (GED) test.
• Vary methods for assessing student performance as appropriate.
• Use student performance data to monitor the effectiveness of instruction.
Interpersonal Relationships
• Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with students.
• Demonstrates patience, respect and understanding for students.
Professional Responsibilities
• Participates in professional growth activities.
• Demonstrates initiative and enthusiasm toward work.
• Follows the policies and procedures of the school district.
• Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility.
• Prepares necessary materials for substitutes.
• Provides information needed for all state reports.

• Completes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Performance of this position will be evaluated according to board policies and the Carthage R-IX School District adopted model of Performance Based Teacher Evaluation.
