COACHES(ES)
POSITION: COACHES(S) QUALIFICATIONS:
• Properly certified;
• Knowledgeable in area of assignment;
• Preferably experienced and competent in required skills of the assigned sport and/or academic competitions;
• Other qualifications determined to be necessary by the Board of Education.
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director or Activity Coordinator and/or Individual Elementary School Principals – Immediate Supervisor(s), as assigned and applicable. JOB GOAL: To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill and appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship competition and an increased level of self-esteem. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coach/Sponsor individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport of academic competition involved and promote school spirit and pride.
• Plan and schedule a regular program of practice in season.
• Work closely with the Activity Coordinator or Athletic Director and Principal in scheduling practice sessions, intra-mural, inter-scholastic contests and activities.
• Will inform Activity Coordinator or Athletic Director of any cancellation of practice sessions, games and/or need or transportation services.
• Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as deemed appropriate to the Activity Coordinator or Athletic Director and maintain inventory.
• Maintain necessary attendance forms, insurance records and similar paperwork.
• Supervise athletes at all times and oversee the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
• Establish performance criteria and rules for eligibility including; grades for participation in extra-curricular competitions.
• Establish written rules and consequences for social conduct, (enforce rules and consequences) via Athlete's Agreement and meet with parents of athletes regarding rules and consequences.
• Enforce rules, discipline and sportsman like behavior at all times and establish and oversee penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
• Travel with athletes, assist coaches and/or sponsors To and FROM for supervision purposes, unless other comparable arrangements are made accordingly with the approval of the Athletic Director or Activity Coordinator.
• Comply with NMAA Rule and Regulations as well as with School Board Policies.
• Actively participate in fund raising activities for meals, lodging, equipment, uniforms, tennis shoes, tee shirts, summer programs and transportation for activities.
