About this role
SUMMARY: Provide evidence-based literacy instruction, assessment, and intervention support within LISD operated special education programs using science of reading practices and MTSS frameworks. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Required:
• Have experience as a successful Special Education classroom teacher.
• Have sufficient knowledge of scientifically based reading research, special expertise in quality reading instruction and infusing reading strategies into content area instruction, and data management skills.
• Have a strong knowledge base in working with teachers and other classroom staff.
• Have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in education and advanced coursework in reading or have completed professional development in evidence-based literacy instructional strategies.
Preferred:
• Reading Specialist certification, LETRS training, or the equivalent amount of training focused on research-based practices in early literacy
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and REGISTRATIONS
• Valid Michigan Special Education Teacher Certificate
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT 188 days, salary, and fringe benefits per LIEA master contract. Exempt.
