Support Staff Position Title: Bus Aide (Special Services) Qualifications: High School Diploma, general understanding of public school education, competency in area assigned, and good human relation skills Reports to: Special Services Bus Driver, Director of Transportation Job Goal: To assist in providing a well organized and safe special services bus route. PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: 1. Assists bus driver in maintaining bus discipline, managing students, helping students to properly fasten seat belts, and securing wheel chairs and other restraint devices as necessary. 2. Interacts with students on a continuous basis to establish interpersonal relationships to facilitate a positive environment of discipline. 3. Instructs students on proper behavior and writes up bus referrals as necessary to maintain order on the school bus. 4. Helps keep the interior of the bus clean and free of trash. 5. Adheres to district policies and departmental procedures. 6. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students. 7. Maintains confidentiality of information about students. 8. Attends school bus safety meetings on a monthly basis. 9. Other duties, not specifically mentioned above, may be assigned by the Director of Transportation or bus driver. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by Board Policy EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy Date Adopted: February 13, 2013
