We are hiring Associates for the 2026-27 school year. Terms of Employment: All student scheduled days for the 2026-27 school year, minimum $17.00/hour. Benefits: The Van Meter Community School District offers a comprehensive benefits package, including IPERS. Employees with proof of existing health insurance can choose to receive a monthly cash stipend in lieu of insurance. Employees receive 15 days of sick leave and 2 personal days each year. Hours: Monday - Thursday 7:45 AM - 3:45 PM Fridays 7:45 AM - 1:45 PM Performance Responsibilities:
• Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
• Commits to ongoing professional growth to support the unique needs of individual students.
• Assists with accurate data collection.
• Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
• Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Assists with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines.
• Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.
• Assists with large group and small group activities.
• Assists with the supervision of the students during emergency drills, assemblies, breaks, and field trips.
• Guides independent work, enrichment work, and remedial work set up as assigned by the teacher.
• Maximizes use of time throughout the day.
• Implements behavior support plan.
• Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
• Demonstrates collaborative skills in a team environment.
• Demonstrates effective communication skills.
• Supports generalization of skills in an integrated setting.
• Exhibits regular, prompt, and reliable attendance.
• Assists the teacher.
