• High school diploma

• First aid/CPR certificate desired

REPORTS TO: Building Administrator; Special Education Teacher RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Building Administrator; Special Education Teacher EVALUATION: Evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the district's Personnel Evaluation Policy TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 6 hours/day; school year only (9 months) JOB GOAL: Assist the teacher in providing education and instruction to students ESSENTIAL DUTIES: NOTE: This is a generalized job description. Specific duties and responsibilities vary, depending on the assigned school. Applicants should be aware of the specific functions of the position prior to employment.

• Consistent and punctual “on site” attendance at the worksite is an essential job function

• Types, draws, writes and duplicates instructional material; makes educational games and aids

• Listens to students read, and reads to students

• Helps students with make-up work

• Assists in individual or group activities, games, flash cards, computers, etc.

• Assists students in interpreting and following directions of teacher

• Drills - to reinforce any skill the teacher has taught

• Alerts teacher to needs of students

• Assists teacher in checking progress of individualized study projects

• Supervises lunchroom, playground, halls, classrooms and other assigned activities

• Prepares bulletin boards, charts, and graphs

• Assists with the physical and health needs of the children, such as feeding and toileting

• Assists with augmentative communication/electronic devices/be willing to be trained for use

• Does miscellaneous typing and filing

• Inventories books, materials and equipment

• Assists when emergencies arise

• Performs other delegated non-instructional responsibilities assigned by teacher or administrator
