About this role
This is as a 182-day, 7 hr per day contract. This is a non-exempt position as defined by the Fair Labor Standards Act. This is light work that may requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for color perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. Primary Function: To assist teachers in providing for the individual needs of the student in order for each student to achieve his/her maximum academic and social potential. Qualifications:
• Hold and associate's degree from an accredited college, sixty semester hours of college credit, or have a passing score on a Parapro assessment test.
• Be 18 years of age.
• Demonstrate good basic reading, writing and computation skills.
• Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to learn to operate and maintain a wide variety of instructional equipment.
• Have demonstrated the personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, school personnel and members of the community.
• Current VA drivers license.
Physical Effort Activities: Must have ability to lift and/or carry children Reports To: Principal and/or Special Education Teacher. Performance Responsibilities:
• To comply with contracted work hour schedules.
• To comply with assignments and extracurricular duties outlined by the teacher/principal.
• To comply with all school board policies and state laws relative to special education classroom operations.
• To assist the teacher in implementing daily and long-range lesson plans.
• To utilize planning time effectively.
• To assist the teacher in the preparation of classroom materials.
• To assist the teacher in providing for the individual needs, abilities, and interest of the students.
• To assume a fair share of the classroom duties as outlined by the classroom teacher.
• To exhibit the necessary physical, mental, and emotional ability to execute duties as outlined by the teacher and principal.
• To perform other duties as assigned by the principal and/or special education teacher.
Terms of Employment: The length of the contract will be determined by the Carroll County School Board. The salary will be from the Teacher Aide Salary Scale. Evaluation: Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with the school board policy and administrative regulations for the evaluation of classified personnel. ***CCPSD participates in E-verify and will provide the federal government with your I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.
