Job Description POSITION TITLE: Teacher Assistant LOCATION: Eastside Elementary QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• Experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
• Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with the Teacher.
REPORTS TO: Principal
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist the Teacher in preparing and organizing instructional materials, including but not limited to lesson plans, worksheets, and visual aids.
• Provide individualized and small-group instruction to students under the direction of the Teacher, adapting materials and activities to meet students' needs.
• Help to implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans as directed by the Teacher.
• Support the Teacher in maintaining a neat, orderly, and safe classroom environment.
• Assist with classroom management and student discipline, following the Teacher's guidelines.
• Monitor student progress and assist the Teacher in collecting data on student performance.
• Provide support during transitions, assemblies, field trips, and other school activities.
• Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning and provide additional support.
• Assist the Teacher in communicating with parents through notes, phone calls, or conferences.
• Operate and assist students with technology and instructional equipment.
• Attend relevant meetings and professional development sessions as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Teacher or Principal.
