Lead nurse Job Description Requirements: BSN in Nursing with a current Iowa license and Iowa BOEE Statement of Professional Recognition Reports to: Executive Director of Student Services Basic Function: To develop and direct school nursing services. Provides leadership, supervision, consultation, coordination, professional development, program development and program evaluation for the school nursing program. Initiates contact with and acts as a liaison between the home, school, community health agencies and the private medical sector to enhance the health and wellness of the school community. Position Responsibilities:

• Develops and implements nursing program components necessary for compliance with federal and state law as well as local and district policies. • Perform duties under the guidelines of the Nurse Practice Act and follow HIPPA and FERPA laws. • Maintains accurate medical records to ensure compliance with state mandates including immunizations, physical examinations, and medical conditions. Establishes procedures and manages student health screening programs and administration of medication. • Plans and oversees instructions of CPR and Med Administration preparedness classes for district personnel. • Implements and oversees the district occupation exposure to Bloodborne Pathogen and Hepatitis B programs. Maintains district AED inventory. • Initiates timely contact with and acts as a liaison between the home, school, community health agencies and the private medical sector to enhance the health and wellness of the school community. • Works in conjunction with special education staff, nurses, and administrators, to develop and oversee the implementation of health plans for IEP and homebound students. • Works with nurses and staff to develop, train, and implement safety evacuation plans for students with limited mobility or wheelchairs. • Develops contracts for private duty nurses and guides their work in our schools. • Assists content areas specialists with staff professional learning as it relates to the school nursing program and health and well-being of students. • Represents the district with community partners to coordinate needed health services for staff and students. • Coordinates with the school Medicaid program and nurses as it relates to medical billing. • Facilitates 504's at the district level and provides necessary training for staff. • Monitor nursing services in our schools on a daily basis and floats to buildings to provide coverage when necessary. • Work with Summer learning and extended school year programs to plan for nursing service coverage during summer classes. • Other duties as assigned.
