Job Description
Job Goal: To assist the Media Specialist in maintaining appropriate media center activities and environment in order that students may learn effectively. Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed.
• Have at least two years of study (60 semester hours or 100 quarter hours) above the remedial level with a grade of “C” or better at a professional Standards Commission approved accredited institute of higher education; or
• Earned an associate degree or higher or
• Passed the State approved paraprofessional exam.
Responsibilities:
• Prompt and regular attendance.
• Creates and fosters a climate that encourages effective use of media facilities, resources, and services.
• Supports users of media center services and resources.
• Supports students to locate appropriate library resources.
• Assists students how to effectively use the library.
• Selects media based on the needs of the instructional program and the individual users.
• Order and receive new library resources.
• Manages all media inventory.
• Secures books or other instructional materials from the school library.
• Shelving books and other library materials
• Set up, issues, and run multimedia equipment
• Produces locally designed materials for and with students and instructional staff.
• Prepares bulletin boards.
• Assist in supervising pupils before, during and after school
• Performs such other duties as assigned by Principal.
Physical Requirements: Able to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities including: Medium Work: Exerting 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds as needed to move objects. Terms of Employment: Salary shall be paid consistent on the System's approved salary schedule. Length of work year and hours of employment shall be established by the system. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the principal in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on classified evaluation.
