About this role
Primary Purpose Maintain the physical plan in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of building can be obtained. Qualifications Education/Certification/Licensure
• High School diploma or GED required
• Texas driver's license and pas MVR driving record check – must meet eligibility requirements for CCISD motor vehicle insurance
Special Knowledge/Skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to understand work from written and oral instructions
• Skills to perform repairs on cabinets, sheetrock, floor, ceiling playground gates and fences
• Ability to use all tools common to various trades
Experience
• Minimum of 2 years experience as a carpenter or such alternatives as may be appropriate
Major Responsibilities and Duties
• Make minor repairs in all trade areas.
• Recognize when a specific trade is needed to solve a problem.
• Perform preventative maintenance when needed.
• Perform general carpentry and refinishing (interior/exterior).
• Perform repair or new work as required.
• Perform minor electric work: light ballast, switch, etc.
• Understand and work from written and oral instructions.
• Recommend supplies and equipment for purchase.
• Available to work different schedules or shifts to accomplish tasks.
• Available for after-hours demands.
• Responsible for safety check and repairs to all district playground equipment.
• Use with proficiency all tools common to various trades.
• Operate school district vehicle safely for up to 100 miles daily.
• Understand and apply all written and oral safety instructions.
• Wear protective equipment when performing any task that could cause injury or illness.
• Report any condition that could cause illness or injury.
• Adhere to all guidelines set forth on Safety Data Sheet when handling chemicals.
• Operate power equipment according to MFG and safety guidelines.
• Participate in District Reunification Protocol as directed by District Incident Commander or designee.

• Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
• Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
• Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
• Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.
