Job Goal(s): This position is to cover a leave of absence for 3 days per week through Novemer 30, 2026. The primary job goals of the Early Childhood School Social Worker is to complete comprehensive multidisciplinary special education evaluations for preschool age children, participate in Early Childhood initiatives as an active team member, and support the development of professional learning. Location of Work: Special Services Building 701 South Paw Paw Street Lawrence, MI 49064 Required Qualifications:
• Masters Degree in Social Work
• Michigan approval or eligible for approval as a School Social Worker (310 form/temporary or full)
• Limited or Full Social Work License through the State of Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Office (LARA)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience in the area of school social work and experience in the areas of Early Childhood preferred
• Experience working with students with disabilities

• MARSE Special Education Eligibility criteria and relevant local, state, and federal legislation, statutes, and policies

Essential Job Functions:
• Provide consultation to school personnel to assist them in best meeting the educational needs of the students.
• Provide services to parents/families of students and potential students to help them in better meeting their needs and the needs of their child.
• Serve a liaison person and help coordinate efforts between school, home, local districts and other agencies/service providers.
• Effectively communicate/consult/team with parents, staff, agencies and others.
• Complete comprehensive evaluation/report of students in response to a special education referral.
• Participate in Early Childhood initiatives including the EC PBIS team.
• Coordinate the development and planning of professional learning activities.
• Adhere to Van Buren ISD policies and procedures.
• Complete assigned responsibilities within agreed upon or established timelines.
• Perform additional tasks, responsibilities, and duties as assigned by the Special Education Supervisor.
