Cleaner Part-Time @ Alden Primary School

Part-Time - 4 hours/day (3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.) Salary as per ACSEA Contract ****Health Insurance, Paid Vacation, Paid Sick/Personal Leave, NYS Pension**** RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs routine building cleaning duties. This is manual work requiring the efficient performance of simple building cleaning tasks, including cleaning kitchens. The responsibility of an employee in this position involves the thorough execution of tasks following a well-established routine. Typical work activities include:

• Cleans and services kitchens, offices, rooms, clinics, halls, stairs, laboratories, and other similar units;

• Sweeps, mops, and waxes floors, using brooms, sweepers, and polishers;

• Dusts furniture and equipment with rags and polish;

• Washes inside windows and cleans window sills;

• Washes and disinfects kitchen equipment including pots, pans, and other related kitchen utensils when assigned to a kitchen;

• Cleans and services lavatories with paper and soap;

• Cleans and polishes glass panels in doors and partitions;

• Collects paper and garbage and properly disposes of them;

• May perform a variety of related tasks or routine duties, such as collecting papers, garbage trays, and changing light bulbs;

• May assist with putting away supplies and equipment as needed;

• May deliver mail, packages, and supplies;

• May be assigned to assist in maintenance helper class on a seasonal basis;

• When assigned, may assist in snow removal and

• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Working knowledge of building cleaning methods, procedures, and equipment; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions; willingness to perform routine cleaning and other manual tasks; ability to get along well with others; thoroughness; dependability; and good physical condition.
