• High school diploma

• Associate Degree preferred

REPORTS TO: Building Administrator, Special Education Teacher, and School Psychologist RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Building Administrator, Special Education Teacher, and School Psychologist JOB GOAL: Assist the teacher in providing and reinforcing education and instruction to students TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine Months EVALUATION: Evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the district's Personnel Evaluation Policy ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: *NOTE: This is a generalized job description. Specific duties and responsibilities vary, depending on the assigned school. Applicants should be aware of the specific functions of the position prior to employment.

• Works with small groups of students, as directed by the teacher, to reinforce directions or tutor in needed areas

• Listens to students read, and reads to students

• Helps students with make-up work

• Assists in individual or group activities, games, flash cards, computers, etc.

• Assists students in interpreting and following directions of teacher

• Drills - to reinforce any skill the teacher has taught

• Types, draws, writes and duplicates instructional material

• Makes educational games and aids

• Alerts teacher to needs of students

• Assists teacher in checking progress of individualized study projects

• Prepares bulletin boards, charts, and graphs

• Reserves films and other instructional media

• Transfers and positions students with physical disabilities

• Does miscellaneous typing and filing

• Inventories books, materials and equipment

• Assists when emergencies arise

• Performs other delegated non-instructional responsibilities assigned by teacher or administrator

OTHER REQUIREMENTS (Intellectual, Sensory):

• Effective oral and written communication skills

• Skills in organization, leadership and human relations

• Visual and auditory skills for dealing with students
