LEOMINSTER PUBLIC SCHOOLS SKYVIEW MIDDLE SCHOOL 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR ENGLISH LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT (ELD) TEACHER The English Language Development (ELD) Teacher is responsible for instructing English Language Learners (ELs) in reading, speaking, listening, and writing to help them achieve grade-level proficiency across all subject areas. An ideal candidate would have strong knowledge of English grammar and structure, along with proven methodologies for teaching English to non-native speakers. They also would have strong knowledge of the WIDA English Language Development standards and ACCESS testing to support student growth. Qualifications:
• A bachelor's degree is required
• Valid Massachusetts teacher certification in English as a Second Language
• SEI Endorsement
• Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
Responsibilities:
• Teach and implement the WIDA English Language Proficiency Standards using approved language instruction methods
• Develops clear and comprehensive lesson plans that have clear objectives
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques that are tailored to the instructional needs and capabilities of the students
• Co-teach in general education classrooms when needed to support integrated learning
• Work closely with classroom teachers to scaffold and support students' access to grade-level content
• Assessment, Progress Monitoring, and Record-Keeping
• Administer the ACCESS English language proficiency test
• Monitor student progress and develop plans to support students
• Foster a safe inclusive classroom that is conducive to learning and aligned to Standards I & II on the teacher evaluation rubric
