ARLINGTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS Arlington, Ma 02476 JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION: Speech/Language Pathology-Assistant (Long term substitute. August - December 2026) JOB GOAL: Provide supports to students with a variety of communication disorders (grade levels, K through Grade 5) under the direction of an ASHA Certified Speech/Language Pathologist. QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication Disorders or related field; and completed coursework and training specific to speech-language pathology assistant job responsibilities.
• Knowledge and experience with computers and augmentative communication technology.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The S/LP-A conducts the following tasks under the supervision of an ASHA certified S/LP.
• Participate in Child Find screenings, Student Support Team, and Special Education Team meetings.
• Screen students at regular intervals
• Implement documented treatment plans or protocols
• Document student progress through progress reports
• Assist during assessment
• Assist with informal documentation, prepare materials, and other clerical duties
• Schedule activities, prepare charts, records, graphs, or otherwise display data
• Perform checks and maintenance of equipment
• Participate in delivery of in-service trainings and presentations to the community
• Devise and make materials for therapy and environment
• Participate in in-service training to update knowledge
• Travel among buildings as caseload assignments dictate
• Perform other related duties as directed
