• Ability to work successfully with students, staff, administrators and community members
• Previous experience preferred
• Philosophy consistent with Kent City Community School's educational goals
• Able to take direction and make mature decisions
• Flexible schedule, available to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends
• Ability to work effectively with student performers
• Knowledge stage production elements (lighting, sound, set design, etc.)
• Leadership qualities
Responsibilities The Drama Director will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing school theatrical productions while fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment for student performers and crew members.
• Direct and produce school theater productions
• Select appropriate scripts that align with school values and student engagement
• Organize and lead auditions, casting, and rehearsals
• Collaborate with staff, students, and volunteers on set design, costumes, lighting, and sound
• Supervise students during rehearsals and performances, ensuring safety and professionalism
• Manage production timelines, communication, and logistics
• Promote student participation and build enthusiasm for the drama program
• Work within an established budget and coordinate fundraising if needed
• Maintain clear communication with administration, families, and participants
