Qualifications
Primary Purpose: Assists Executive Director for Communications & Marketing and Communications department in efforts to communicate student district success and inform the community-at large about new programs and opportunities for PSJA students. Supports district-level multimedia and video productions from concept to completion, including all necessary production, videotaping, editing, content, and overall creative design. Assists department with the production of creative news and informational programming to increase viewership and community understanding of district goals and achievements. Education/Certification: Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field
Special Knowledge/Skills: Excellent organization, writing, planning, and creative skills to produce and direct compelling and informative stories Excellent storytelling skills Experience writing, proofreading, editing, and desktop publishing Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos Ability to perform a variety of tasks often changing assignments on short notice with little or no direction Ability to operate standard digital in studio and remote equipment, including audio, lighting, TriCaster, teleprompter, to name a few. Familiarity with distributing digital material on a variety of platforms, including web, social media, and television Experience and training in the fundamentals of current videotaping and production techniques Experience with operating DV, HD, DSLR cameras and additional video equipment such as GoPros, Drones, and mobile devices Experience in nonlinear editing software to capture and edit video and audio Proficient knowledge of Final Cut Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, and other editing software Experience in video production techniques, including creating computer generated graphics and animation (both 2D and 3D) Experience in using character-generating software and digital server Experience producing data-rich multimedia graphics Creativity in producing videos that meet the expectations of PSJA ISD administration Knowledge of school district operations and communications, preferred. Excellent storytelling skills and technical craftmanship as videographer and editor Excellent project management skills with track record for on-time delivery on tight deadlines May work irregular hours based on time of year and district events/meetings Excellent communication skills ad the ability to work collaboratively across the organization Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of video storytelling or journalism experience Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate and acceptable PSJA Leadership Skills and Expectations

Technical Skills, Responsibilities and Duties
In PSJA ISD, we hire individuals who demonstrate excellence in these technical areas as they lead others Major Responsibilities and Duties:
• Works closely with the Executive Director for Communications & Marketing and Video Production Manager to develop and execute video content in support of the Communications Department and Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD.
• Develop, write, and edit news packages, segments, and promotional content for broadcast and/or print as needed
• Be able to contribute creative ideas to the Communications Department for video or multimedia elements of any communications and/or marketing plan
• Responsible for assisting with videotaping and editing video and audio content for the Communications Department
• Assists taking photographs for district publications, events, presentations, campaigns and displays as needed
• Assists with technical set-up and production aspects of videotaping, including but not limited to video camara operation, audio/video equipment set-up, lighting, and set-design
• Pitch and produce new stories and other content to department
• Create graphics or motion graphics for videos and other multimedia projects as needed
• Assists in studio and remote shoots as determined by Supervisor
• Able to take assigned project from concept to completion without assistance
• Knowledge and ability to update district's YouTube and Vimeo channel with new videos
• Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends and some holidays
• Works well with others and maintains a high-level of professionalism when working with staff members, other departments, schools or community
• Ability to perform a variety of tasks on short notice or with minimal direction and meet established deadlines
• Ability to be a one-woman/man-band on occasion (i.e., run camera, audio, and conduct interviews)
• Gathers and verifies information regarding stories through interviews, observations, and research
• Edit engaging long-form and short-form content customized for multiple digital and social media platforms
• Desire to concept and pitch ideas, as well as execute the vision of others
• Perform such other duties as may be assigned
