LEOMINSTER PUBLIC SCHOOLS SAMOSET MIDDLE SCHOOL School Adjustment Counselor 2026-2027 School Year We are seeking a compassionate, student centered School Adjustment Counselor to join our team. This position plays a vital role in promoting students' emotional, social, and academic success by providing counseling/social services and collaborating with families, educators, and community agencies. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator with a strong understanding of child development and a commitment to supporting the whole child.
• CALM-trained or willing to obtain CALM certification
• Ability to create, manage, and adjust staff schedules, including coverage planning during staff absences
• Skilled in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
• Facilitate and lead therapeutic social skills groups for students
• Proficient in implementing coping strategies and behavior intervention plans (BIPs)
• Collect and analyze behavioral data to support the development and evaluation of BIPs
• Collaborate effectively with both general education and special education teachers to support student success
• Communicate and collaborate with caregivers to support student well-being and progress
• Coordinate with outside agencies and community resources to provide comprehensive support services for students
Qualifications:
• Master's degree (preferred) in School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
• Valid Massachusetts DESE certification as a School Adjustment Counselor.
• Demonstrated knowledge of child development and its impact on learning.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States (citizenship, residency, or valid work visa)
Salary commensurate with related experience.
