Pay Grade: 56 ($16.46 - $16.71 per hour) (Position #318509) "Must" complete a Generic Bus Driver Application. Driving a school bus is an essential function of this job. "Must" be able to provide an Official Seal Transcript showing at 48 semester hours from a Community College or a Four Year University. See Job Description for specific duties Teacher Assistant Exceptional Children Department General Statement of Job: An Instructional Teacher Assistant in the Exceptional Children's Department must be committed to serving our neediest students with a wide range of disabilities and special needs including all aspects of student access to their educational environment. Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in the educational development of pupils under the direction of the EC teacher.

• Assist in the monitoring of Individual Education Programs for students progress.

• Provide support for individual students inside and outside the

classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.

• Work with other professionals, such as speech therapists, regular education and special education teachers.

• Assist classroom teachers with maintaining student data records.

• Present subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of the EC teacher.

• Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups in order to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning.

• Observe students' performance, and record relevant data to assess progress.

• Assist the EC teacher to ensure that all instructional materials and equipment are available.

• Coordinate with other professionals to utilize instructional aids and equipment.

• Coordinate with nursing staff to provide student support through personal care needs in order for them to fully access the educational environment.

• Utilize Behavior Intervention and Crisis Prevention training to de-escalate and intervene for students with behavioral difficulties.

• Other duties deemed appropriate by the Director of Exceptional Children in the provision of student service provision.

Additional Job Functions or Assigned Tasks:

• Obtain and maintain a bus license.

• Supervise EC students in all settings of the school environment.

• Attend trainings and staff development as determined appropriate by the principal and EC Director.

• Serve as a monitor for significantly needy students in transition and transport.

Minimum Training and Experience:

• High School diploma and a minimum of 48 hours of college level coursework is required.

• A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required.
