About this role
TITLE: CAFETERIA MONITOR PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ensures the health, safety, and welfare of students in elementary school cafeterias QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to work effectively and cooperatively with elementary school age children, school staff, and parents.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Director of School Nutrition ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Supervises students in the cafeteria during lunch periods in serving lines, while eating, and during dismissal.
• Maintains discipline in the cafeteria according to school policy.
• Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate staff member as soon as possible.
• Assists in clean up of spills/accidents.
• Adheres to proper hand washing and hygiene practices.
• Cleans and sanitizes lunch tables after each use.
• Assists students with opening of milk cartons, condiments, etc. as needed.
• Encourages students to try new foods and periodically provides nutrition education to students.
• Assists students with proper disposal of food and beverages (may include collection of compostable foods when applicable).
• Refills condiments, silverware, and water coolers as needed.
• Cooperates with other employees, school staff, and students.
• Attends educational and in-service programs and meetings as requested by the Director of School Nutrition and Building Principal.
• Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 180 day hourly contract (hours vary by school location) EVALUATION: Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel. 7/15
