About this role
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy.
• Registered and certificated by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
• At least 1-2 years experience.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Effective behavior management skills.
REPORTS TO: Special Services JOB GOAL: Assume responsibility for direct therapy and consulting activities for students requiring occupational therapy as required by governing rules and regulations. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop motor activities based on the student's individual needs.
• Provide direction in developing needed activities in the areas of : sensory integration, gross and fine motor.
• Provide direction in screening motor needs of students suspected of needing occupational therapy.
• Act as a member of the multidisciplinary evaluation/reevaluation team for students suspected of needing occupational therapy.
• Provide direction in assessment instruments/techniques to evaluate student sensory integration and motor needs.
• Acts as resource to district special education staff in the awareness and implementation of occupational therapy evaluation and programming.
• Attend IEP meetings on an as needed basis for students being considered for occupational therapy services.
• Communicates with staff and parents on individual student progress.
• Oversees the supervision of the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Director of Special Services may assign.
