TITLE: Groundskeeper / Grounds Equipment Operator JOB DESCRIPTION: Operate light duty equipment such as bobcat, grounds equipment, etc. Does not require a commercial license. Perform general groundskeeping and maintenance on landscaped areas surrounding schools. QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
• Three (3) years of relevant experience
• Ability to obtain a State of Arizona Identity Verify (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this class.) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Operate heavy equipment such as tractor mower, loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, and bobcats.
• Operate shovels, picks, posthole diggers, hammers, rakes, sharpshooters, saws, levels, augers, double jacks and uses hand tools.
• Inspect vehicles to ensure they are fully operational and meet safety standards.
• Assist with pouring, forming and finishing concrete.
• Repair concrete, brick and block; install and maintain chain link fencing.
• Load and unload materials onto and from vehicles.
• Inspect and repair playground equipment, benches, tables, barrier posts, and storm drains.
• Install and repair flood irrigation valves and gates.
• Perform street maintenance and grounds excavation work.
• Act as laborer for other trades and grounds work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
• Knowledge and experience in heavy equipment operation techniques.
• Knowledge of safety policies, procedures, and practices.
• Knowledge of flood irrigation.
• Skill operating heavy equipment operation.
• Skill in laying and finishing cement.
• Skill in both verbal and written communications.
• Ability to install and repair fences and other equipment.
• Ability to obtain Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
