About this role
General Description - Manages the school health porgram for the students in the nurses absence. Applicant must be licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a registered or practical nurse. Must be certified in CPR. Duties:
• Conducts school health services, including physical assessments, review and enforcement of immunizations and screening for hearing and vision as mandated by state regulations.
• Provides medically prescribed interventions, including medications administration, in accordance with state regulations.
• Provide care to ill children on a daily basis.
• Provides first aid to injured children and staff.
• Advises the building principal on exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious illnesses.
Physical Requirements:
• Employees are required to use hands to handle, feel, or reach objects, materials, and/or controls
• The employee must be able to lift and or move up to 50 pounds
• Regular contact with students, other staff, parents, medical professionals, and other community members may be required
• The employee must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality
• Job responsibilities may include both inside and outside duties
• Sitting, standing, and walking may be required for extended periods of time. Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching may be needed to perform some duties
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus
• Hearing and speaking is required for the exchange of information
• Use of computer or other device screens is necessary
• This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines
• This job may involve moving students from wheelchairs, occasional lifting of up to 70 pounds or the use of a Hoyer lift
LPN $21.06 per hour RN $24.34 per hour
