Long Term Substitute Approximately August 17 - October 16 JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Licensed School Nurse (LSN) and district policies, is responsible for implementation of individual student health plans, caring for ill and injured students, medication administration and maintaining student health records. Works with students, parents, and staff to maintain the health and well-being of all. WORK REQUIREMENTS AND CHARACTERISTICS: Education/Certification/Licensure:
• Postsecondary education of 2 years or more as a LPN or RN
• Current CPR and First Aid Certification
• Valid Minnesota driver's license
Experience:
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting or as a health paraprofessional required
• Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, LPN or EMT preferred
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Basic computer and keyboarding skills
• Basic office equipment knowledge
• Basic internet knowledge
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Problem solving skills
• Ability to prioritize
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Knowledge of health and wellness, nursing functions, body systems, communicable diseases preferred
• Ability to read and interpret medical information
• Ability to follow physician orders
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to work with students of various ability levels
• Ability to work effectively with students in a positive manner
• Knowledge of relevant health laws, guidelines and rules pertaining to student health care and nursing care services
• Ability to follow district policies and procedures pertaining to healthcare services and operations
• Ability to exercise confidentiality in handling district information
