General Description: The Cafeteria Assistant Manager directs and participates in all food service operations in the assigned school according to federal, state and local policies. Essential Responsibilities:
• Supervises and/or performs the duties of cafeteria workers
• Fills the manager role in the manager's absence
• Assists in preparing and serving meals that have been planned to meet the nutritional needs of students
• Supervises and assists in the preparation and cooking of food to ensure proper temperature, palatability, and appearance of food
• Promotes the educational aspects of the program to students, teachers, and the community
• Works with the manager in determining amounts of food and supplies to be purchased and checking delivery for accuracy
• Instructs employees in the use and care of equipment
• Maintains high sanitary and safety standards in preparation, serving, and storing food
• Prepares and maintains food service records at the manager's direction
• Performs related duties as required or assigned
Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED
• ServSafe Certification
• Successful experience in large capacity food service
Preferred Qualifications:
• Formal training in Food Service
Work Environment/Physical Requirements: (Food Services)
• Employee must be able to lift and or move up to 50 pounds
• Regular contact with students and other staff is required
• Employee must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality
• Sitting, standing, and walking may be required for extended periods of time
• Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching may be needed to perform some duties
• Employees are frequently exposed to extreme heat and cold; moving mechanical parts; fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noises
• Requires employee to regularly stand; sit; walk; use hands to handle, feel objects, tools, equipment or controls; reach with hands and arms
• Verbal communication and hearing may be required for expressing or exchanging information
• Employees must adhere to all site safety regulations
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus
• Use of computer or other device screens is necessary
Annual Salary Range: $23,174 - $47,054 This is a 183 day position/7 hr per day position.
