About this role
The DCIU has immediate needs for Paraprofessionals located across all of our programs. The job of Paraprofessional was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care and instruction of special needs students in the regular classroom or in a self-contained classroom; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior during nonclassroom time; providing information to appropriate school personnel; and attending IEP meetings. Minimum requirements:
• High school Diploma or Equivalent
• Must acquire status as a Highly Qualified Paraprofessional
• Participation, successful completion, and passing required professional development events, in-services, and trainings
• Experience with children
• Flexible and reliable
• Ability to work effectively and regularly with a computer
• Must have adequate verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to function under the direction of the teacher
• Possess good judgment
• Ability to establish rapport with students
• Ability to maintain positive relationships with program staff
• Reliable means of transportation
The Paraprofessional positions are 10-month positions.
