About this role
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associate's degree (AA) in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or equivalent; or a valid CDA credential preferred or willing to obtain a CDA.
• Applicants will also be considered if they are willing to meet an approved compliance plan to earn needed credentials.
• Ability to use computers, software and other current technology
• Effective communication and organizational skills
• Maintain professional atmosphere and demeanor in classroom settings, acting at all times as a representative of the St. Joseph County ISD
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certified
• Required to have a physical presence at the designated job site each scheduled work day
• Must have regular and reliable job attendance, performance, and the physical ability to do the job.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Communication, written and oral with parent, family and program data and reports and other program staff.
• Maintain professional atmosphere and demeanor in classroom or family child care home, acting at all times as a representative of the ISD.
• Engage in activities with children at their physical level.
• Create an overall supportive, nurturing, strength based atmosphere.
• Implement High Scope Curriculum and Conscious Discipline during classroom and family child care visits.
• Provide child care for evening meetings as required.
• Supports all child care provider sites.
• Provide lunch coverage, as needed.
• Sub in classroom, as needed.
• Provide resources for families and children as requested
• Implement high quality developmentally appropriate practice.
• Adhere to the Standards of Conduct as outlined in the Head Start Program Performance Standards (1305.52(i)(1)(i-iv).
• Communicate with Early On, Early Head Start, GSRP and Early Childhood Special Education as needed for collaboration throughout programs.
• Attend and engage in continuous professional development.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the Early Childhood Standards of Quality for Infants and toddlers.
• Partner in implementation of universal supports for all children.
• Maintain appropriate records.
• Involve families in community activities as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned by St. Joseph County ISD Administration.
REPORTS TO: Education and Family Services Manager PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS: Education and Family Services Manager TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Part time position. Up to 30 hours per week. Salary and conditions of employment are determined by the Board of Education.
