Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs, including students with disabilities and multilingual learners. Experience integrating instructional technology into mathematics instruction. Knowledge of MTSS, differentiation, and evidence-based mathematics practices. Qualification Requirements Valid Rhode Island All Grades (Spanish) World Language Teacher Certification (PK–12) or eligibility for Rhode Island certification. Demonstrated proficiency in the target language. Demonstrated knowledge of world language curriculum, proficiency-based instruction, assessment practices, and classroom management. Ability to teach multiple levels of Spanish and support students in earning the Rhode Island Seal of Biliteracy. Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. Compliance with all Rhode Island Department of Education requirements. Preferred Valid Rhode Island All Grades (French) World Language Teacher Certification (PK–12) or eligibility for Rhode Island certification. One (1) or more years of successful teaching experience. Experience implementing proficiency-based world language instruction aligned to ACTFL standards. Experience integrating instructional technology and digital resources into language instruction. Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs, including students with disabilities and multilingual learners. Knowledge of MTSS, differentiation, and culturally responsive teaching practices, and differentiation. Experience organizing or supporting language clubs, cultural events, travel programs, or enrichment opportunities. MLL endorsement and/or special education experience preferred. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Position Summary The Scituate School Department seeks a dynamic, student-centered World Language Teacher who is committed to ensuring high levels of learning for all students. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong language proficiency, cultural competency, and effective instructional practices that promote communication, global awareness, and intercultural understanding. The ideal candidate will create engaging learning experiences that develop students' proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the target language while fostering an appreciation for diverse cultures and perspectives. The candidate will collaborate with colleagues to support student achievement, contribute to a positive school culture, and actively participate in the district's ongoing efforts to improve outcomes for all learners. Instruction and Learning Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based world language instruction aligned to Rhode Island World Language Standards, ACTFL World-Readiness Standards, and district curriculum expectations. Develop students' proficiency in the target language through meaningful communication and authentic learning experiences. Foster cultural awareness, global competence, and appreciation for diverse perspectives and traditions. Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social, emotional, and developmental needs of all learners. Utilize evidence-based instructional practices, technology tools, and a variety of learning resources to support language acquisition and student achievement. Create opportunities for students to engage in interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational communication. Promote student engagement through inquiry, collaboration, authentic tasks, and real-world applications of language and culture. Implement instructional practices that support equitable access to rigorous learning opportunities for all students. Integrate literacy skills and cross-curricular connections into world language instruction. Assessment and Data-Informed Practice Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress toward language proficiency goals. Assess student growth using proficiency-based measures aligned to ACTFL performance indicators and district expectations. Provide timely, meaningful feedback to students and families regarding language development and academic progress. Participate in collaborative analysis of student work and assessment data to improve instructional practices and student outcomes. Maintain accurate and timely student records in accordance with district expectations. Learning Environment Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment. Promote positive student behavior, responsibility, self-advocacy, and risk-taking in language learning. Create a classroom culture characterized by high expectations, cultural responsiveness, mutual respect, and a growth mindset. Collaboration and Communication Collaborate with colleagues, special educators, interventionists, school counselors, and administrators to support student success. Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), grade-level teams, and school improvement efforts. Communicate effectively with students, families, and community members regarding student progress and classroom expectations. Support district initiatives related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), and continuous improvement. Promote opportunities for students to engage in cultural experiences, language enrichment activities, and community partnerships.
