Job Description: The primary purpose of the School Nurse Teacher is to provide skilled nursing care to students on a daily basis and to teach health education. Responsibilities: Conduct school health services Provide first aid for students and staff Provide other medical care of students as needed ID and meet needs of student w special health care needs in collaboration with parent/guardian and health care provider Medication administration and maintenance Maintain student health records; review physical and immunization records to ensure compliance Provide individual health education to students and families; communicate with families regarding students’ health care needs Provide health education resources and education to staff; collaborate with staff (teachers/counseling staff) around individual students’ needs Facilitate dental, hearing, vision, and scoliosis screenings for students and follow up with families re: findings Assist families in connecting to community health resources Maintain health office in safe and hygienic manner Provide health related supplies for classrooms and field trips Plan and implement health instruction for students as directed Monitor safety and communicable disease in the school setting Advise school administration on health matters as requested Confer with Charter School Physician as needed Attend staff and professional meetings as directed Comply with federal and state regulations for school health services Instruct students in classroom health education
RI School Nurse Teacher Certification Fluency in Spanish and English, both spoken and written, preferred. Commitment to educational equity and experience working with diverse student populations, particularly students of color, multilingual learners, and students with diverse learning needs. Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff. Passion for fostering student development through creative learning opportunities.
