About this role
2026-2027 High School Band Director / Middle School Choir Teacher Cherokee Community School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated music educator to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will:
• Teach 9-12 Band, including all high school instrumental music responsibilities.
• Teach one section of 6th Grade Choir.
• Foster a positive, engaging, and student-centered learning environment.
• Collaborate with fellow music educators to build a strong, comprehensive music program.
• Support student growth through performances, competitions, and other music-related activities.
Qualifications:
• Valid Iowa teaching license with appropriate endorsements (or ability to obtain licensure).
• Strong instrumental music background and effective classroom management skills.
• Commitment to excellence in music education and student achievement.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and the community.
