About this role

POSITION: Out of District Reading Specialist (part time) LOCATION: All Saints STEAM Academy GENERAL DUTIES: To instruct students in reading REPORTS TO: Principal and/or designee. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Reading Teacher/Specialist or Reading Specialist/Consultant (K-12); 2. Experience in the teaching of reading and language arts; 3. Ability to know and utilize technology in the teaching and learning process; 4. Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities below as evidenced by course work, educational experience, and the interview process. 5.Bilingual preferred. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Teaches reading, utilizing the school department's curricula and other appropriate learning activities; 2.Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student; 3.Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction; 4.Evaluates students' academic growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares progress reports, and maintains Personal Literacy Plans; 5.Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student's progress and interpret the school program; 6.Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities; 7.Administers reading assessment in accordance with district testing program. 8.Participates in curriculum development programs as required; 9.Performs such other duties as assigned by the principal.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Hourly Employee: $ 70/ per hour of instructional time during the school day. Schedule determined by building admin. No benefits included. All Saints STEAM Academy: Approximately 3-4 hours per week
