POSITION REPORTS TO: Maintenance Foreman PAY GRADE: MNT-8
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt ASSIGNMENT PERIOD 260 days
II. SUMMARY OF POSITION'S PURPOSE Performs various activities related to the maintenance and improvement of electrical requirements of the School Board and its facilities. III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION – High School Diploma. Louisiana Contractor's License as an Electrician or a passing score on the NOCTI assessment for Electricians. 2. EXPERIENCE – 1-2 Years of electrical experience. 3. SKILLS – Ability to read/understand blueprints and drawings, symbols, codes and regulations. Must also be able to perform algorithmic calculations. 4. OTHER REQUIREMENTS- Must be physically capable of lifting in excess of 25 pounds on a continual basis. This position requires sustained manual dexterity with close mental/visual attention and the ability to perform job functions in a standing position for a majority of the work day. This position is exposed to environmental extremes, chemicals, fumes and electrical hazards on a daily basis. Position requirements also include climbing ladders and scaffolding. IV. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Performs various electrician related administrative accountabilities including, but not limited to, determining the requirements of the job (design, time and material acquisition,) purchasing materials and setting up the jobsite to include interaction with principals, teachers, janitors and contractors.
• Prepares the jobsite.
• Installs/repairs EMT, MC Flex, Romex, wire mold, wire, panels and circuit breakers.
• Finishes connecting wires, receptacles, lights and panels. Installs coverplates, light bulbs and panel covers.
• Cleans the jobsite upon the completion of the activity.
• Works with supervisors and helpers to ensure that all appropriate safety codes and regulations are met.
• Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external customers including students, parents, co-workers, etc. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships and to ensure that student and employee records confidentiality is assured.
• Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance, e.g. expense management. Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
• Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Orients new co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the school system.
• Performs other services as required.
