General Definition of Work INSTRUCTIONAL & COMPLIANCE SUPPORT FOR WINKLER MIDDLE SCHOOL Focused on students who qualify for exceptional children services in the areas of: Classroom and Curriculum Coaching/Support, Targeted Student Support, Behavior Support, and Compliance/Paperwork Support. Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Reports to Principal/Special Needs Administrator Essential Functions: •Assist case managers to create case management procedures•Conduct classroom visits, provide feedback and coaching•Observe students to identify strategies to improve learning, behavior, teaching,etc.•Assist teachers with initial referral and re-evaluation processes•Remain current on instructional best practices (curriculum, strategies,assessments, progress monitoring, etc.)•Assist with fidelity of program implementation and specially designed instruction•Complete data collection tasks as assigned•Develop and provide Professional Development Knowledge, Skills and Abilities •Extensive knowledge of strategies, methodologies, and philosophies for students with disabilities.•Coaching and consultation with school personnel on specially designed instruction, specific strategies, data collection, modeling, and progress monitoring.•Collaboration and problem-solving skills to address students with unique needs with school administrators, general education teachers, EC teachers, related services personnel and district EC staff.•Ability to effectively and efficiently facilitate the EC PLC. Education Experience: Bachelor's degree with coursework in special education or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Physical Requirements: •This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force. •Work regularly requires standing and speaking or hearing, frequently requires walking, pushing or pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions, and occasionally requires sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling and reaching with hands and arms; work has standard vision requirements. •Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly. •Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. •Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities. •Work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and exposure to bloodborne pathogens, and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment. Special Requirements: North Carolina Teacher Certification or State Licensure in the related EC field.
