Dish room / Stock Employee Position Title: Dish room / Stock Employee Department: Child Nutrition Services Reports To: Cafeteria Manager Position Summary The Dish room / Stock Employee is responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary dishwashing area, assisting with receiving and storing food and supplies, stocking serving areas, and supporting the daily operation of the school cafeteria. This position plays a key role in ensuring a safe, organized, and efficient food service environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Dish room Responsibilities
• Collect, sort, and wash trays, utensils, pans, and kitchen equipment.
• Operate commercial dishwashing equipment according to established procedures.
• Ensure all dishes and equipment are cleaned, sanitized, and properly stored.
• Remove trash and recycling from kitchen and serving areas.
• Clean and sanitize dish room surfaces, floors, sinks, and work areas.
• Follow all health department regulations and food safety standards.
Stock Responsibilities
• Receive deliveries and verify items against invoices and delivery receipts.
• Rotate stock using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method.
• Store food and supplies in designated locations following food safety guidelines.
• Stock serving lines, coolers, freezers, and storage areas as needed.
• Monitor inventory levels and notify the manager when supplies need replenished.
• Assist with monthly inventory counts.
General Responsibilities
• Follow all district, state, and federal Child Nutrition Program regulations.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Assist other cafeteria staff as needed during meal preparation and service.
• Attend required trainings and meetings.
• Demonstrate professionalism and positive customer service when interacting with students and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager or Child Nutrition Director.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work cooperatively with staff and students.
• Previous food service experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions.
• Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, and noisy environments.
• Ability to push and pull carts and equipment.
Terms of Employment
• Salary and work schedule shall be consistent with the district-approved Cook position salary schedule and work calendar, as established by the Carter County Board of Education.
• Hours may vary based on school needs, meal service schedules, and special events.
• Evaluation shall be conducted annually by the Cafeteria Manager and/or Child Nutrition Director in accordance with district procedures.
The Dish room / Stock Employee contributes to the success of the Child Nutrition Program by ensuring sanitary conditions, maintaining organized inventory, and supporting efficient meal service for all students.
