About this role

Qualifications/Description:

• One of the following preferred:

• 60 credit hours of college credit

• Associate's degree

• College Board's SAT score of at least a 480 on evidence-based reading and writing and a 530 on math

• ETS Parapro Assessment with a passing score of 460High School Graduate

• Additional coursework and/or experience with individuals with disabilities is preferred.

• Ability to interact professionally and positively with students, staff and community.

• Good public relations skills.

• Knowledge of Risk Management and MI Labor Laws preferred.

• Ability to perform job duties without direct supervision.

• Ability to work as a team and accept direction from others.

• Demonstrate good writing skills.

• Demonstrate good organizational skills.

• Previous successful experience supervising individuals with disabilities within community environments for vocational training preferred.

• Valid driver's license and willingness to transport students in program vehicles, required.

• Part-time, 2-days per week (14-hours)

Performance Responsibilities:

• Provide positive training opportunities to students on individual and group worksites including:

• Maintain contact/relationship with local businesses, agencies and other service providers.

• Work cooperatively with business personnel in determining work needs and expectations.

• Job coach students and engage in tasks, modeling preferred behavior and skill.

• Follow individual training plans and maintain documentation for data collection.

• Conduct initial on-site supervision, follow-up and evaluations.

• Communicate identified needs and progress to team members (instructors/business owners).

• Develops community-vocational instructional sites.

• Communicates with school, community agencies, KCTC and EmpowerU

• Provide individual and group instruction to students as directed by the Classroom Teacher and Administration.

• Implement Teacher-planned activities in a manner that assures optimum learning opportunities for students.

• Serve as a positive model for students by participating in general student activities, demonstrations, and overall conduct throughout the school day.

• Demonstrate competency in behavioral management and maintain control of students assigned to his/her care.

• Provide input to professional staff relative to student performance and general program ideas.

• All other duties assigned by appropriate professionals.

• Conduct self in a professional manner and maintain a positive image during the work day and all work-related activities.

• Abide by all district policies and procedures.

Job Goal: To assist students of post-secondary age in achieving their transition goals in the following four areas: Employment, Independent Living Skills, Post-Secondary Education, and Community Involvement.
